Meet Dr. Dunn

Dr. Daxx Dunn is a 2001 graduate of Northeastern State University College of Optometry in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, where he received NSUCO's Award for Clinical Excellence and served as 4th year class president. He was a Committee Member for NSUCO’s Dean’s Council in addition to the Executive Council. Dr. Dunn also served as an adjunct faculty member with NSUCO's Rural Health Clinics after graduation.

Although he wanted to practice full-scope optometry in his own private practice, Dr. Dunn’s special interest lies with children’s vision issues.  In the fall of 2001, Dr. Dunn and his wife, Angela, moved to Franklin, Tennessee, and worked together to start a new specialty pediatric and family eye care practice, Family Vision Care of Cool Springs, which opened doors for business May 2002. Dr. Dunn’s unique sense of humor, ability to make patients feel at ease, referrals from pediatricians, and instant rapport with children has quickly established him as the “kids’ eye doc” of the Franklin/Cool Springs area. He has been voted by Williamson county parents as their best choice for eye care for the past three years in a row. He believes that optometry is his calling, and feels blessed to have a career which he finds rewarding and truly enjoys helping children and as well as adults.

Dr. Dunn is licensed by the Tennessee Board of Optometry and is therapeutically certified to administer injectible as well as oral medications. Before obtaining his licensure in Tennessee, Dr. Dunn was licensed in Oklahoma, where he was certified to perform anterior segment laser procedures and minor ocular surgical procedures.

He is an active member of the American Optometric Association, the Tennessee Optometric Association, and the Middle Tennessee Optometric Society. He is also an associate member of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development, which is an organization dedicated to pediatric vision disorders, vision related learning disabilities, and visual development. He is currently working on his fellowship with the COVD. Dr. Dunn performs vision screenings at local preschools and volunteers his professional services for Prevent Blindness Tennessee, a non-profit organization devoted to preventing blindness and preserving sight of less-fortunate individuals. He also serves on the Clinical Advisory Board of Eye Health Partners, a referral and surgery center in Nashville.

Dr. Dunn and his wife, Angela, welcomed a new addition to their family on July 15, 2005, with the birth of a son, Jacob Brandon. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family and friends, golfing, playing basketball, running, and mountain biking.
