  • ARE CONTACTS OR EYEGLASSES RIGHT FOR ME?

For some people, contacts are the most suitable option to obtain their best vision. Beyond ease of use, contact lens functionality has made many recent advancements. Several of the most frequently requested types of contacts we provide include daily wear, disposable, bifocal, and astigmatism contact lenses. Furthermore, modern contact lenses are easier to wear than previous designs, with the majority of contact lens users experiencing no discomfort.

For anyone who might not be prepared to put in contacts or who has particular eye conditions, prescription glasses can also be an effective choice. Just like contact lenses, eyeglasses and prescription lenses have made amazing innovations through the years and can offer numerous advantages.

Every contact lens patient should have a pair of eyeglasses with their current prescription to wear in the event of an occurance that would prevent contact lens wear, such as an injury or infection.

  • WHAT CAN I EXPECT WHEN GETTING CONTACTS AND GLASSES?

At Family Vision Care, we make it a priority to dedicate our time and attention to helping you with the right pair of glasses or the most appropriate contact lenses for your specific needs and lifestyle. Moreover, we have a lot of options to help you stay within your budget. We provide an in-depth training course for the insertion and removal of contacts for all ages. Contact lens patients may require follow-up appointments to check vision and fit before the prescription is finalized.

Comprehensive eye exams should occur every year. During these appointments, we will monitor the overall health of your eyes along with your prescription to decide if it should be changed.

  • CONTACT LENSES AND GLASSES FAQ

Does wearing glasses or contact lenses make your vision worse?

No, it doesn't. Wearing prescription corrective lenses corrects refractive errors in your eyes to help you see clearly — it doesn't make your eyesight worse. The main reason for this misconception is presbyopia — or age-related vision degradation. As we age, our eyes don't focus as well as they did when we were young, and our vision tends to get worse, forcing us to wear corrective lenses to help us see more clearly.

Is it safe to wear contacts every day?

Yes, it is. Unless you are currently experiencing redness, irritation, or an eye infection, wearing daily contact lenses is completely fine. You should always remember to practice proper care and cleaning of your contacts to prevent any possible problems or eye infections.

How long can you wear contact lenses?

Daily Wear Contacts should be removed before you go to bed, or typically about 16 hours a day.

Extended Wear Contacts allow you to sleep in them and are usually changed every seven days.

During your exam at Family Vision Care, we will give you the proper wear and care recommendations for your contact lenses.
